Fungal organisms were isolated from the two Roman underground tombs, named as T.01 at Bruj el Chamali and TJ04 at Ramali, both of which located in the suburb of Tyre city in Lebanon. Hygrophilous fungi, identified as Acremonium and Doratomyces, were dominant species in both tombs, which seemed to provide humid environments. Another notable finding was the possible intrusion of various species of Aspergillus isolated as outdoor fungi capable of adapting both warm to hot dry summers and mildly cool wet winter seasons characteristic of the Mediterranean climate.
