Abstract
type:Article
Color responses to the Rorschach inkblot test are assumed to provide an indication of individuals' capacity for affective modulation. Rorschach held that color has an influence on affection. This study investigated whether red inkblots act as emotional stimuli in the Rorschach test. The skin potential response (SPR) of 20 participants was recorded as they viewed inkblots. The color dominant group (FC ≦ CF + C) showed large negative SPR when presented with red inkblots for the first time. However, the SPR was not modulated by whether the Rorschach inkblot was red or not. These results suggest that emotions of the color dominant group were induced by red inkblots when viewed for the first time, although it cannot be concluded that the Rorschach red inkblot elicited the emotion. Therefore, color dominance in the Rorschach test is related to the later phase, rather than to stimulus perception. (136)
