Abstract

This document attempts to bring to light the issues relating to market management in the music arts. In particular it attempts, by surveying and closely examining the various problems which arise in holding classical music concerts, to discern the future direction of music management. Specifically, the actual performer hiring activities of typical Tokyo-based management are described, the various problems which are inherent to artistic expression are discussed from the perspective of art management, and one strategy for dealing with these is presented.
