Abstract
Research Notes
The archaeologist appeared in Japanese comics which are one of the contemporary popular cultures at many works. In 2000s, the number of works further increases and the genre is also wideranging. And it is also the feature of the 2000s that the existence of the work which was subject to the influence of the Japanese Paleolithic hoax, and the work in which the archaeology laboratory of university became a stage. And about the archaeologist character of this time, there are clearly different characters from actual archaeologist, such as the male archaeologist of Safari look or the Indiana Jones style and also an archaeologist of the looks and cloth like a treasure hunter, and pretty young male archaeologist in girls’ comics. Meanwhile, it can observe that the archaeologist became a more familiar existence in Japanese comic community from the tendency for archaeologist characters drawn on the comics work increased in various genres and they looked similar to the actual archaeologist, and also the work in which an archaeology laboratory of university serves as a stage has appeared.
