「国際性」ということばは、教育の理念や青年の育成を語る時などに頻繁に使用されている。本研究は、全国の高校、大学生792人を対象にWeb調査を行い、「国際性」という語を彼らがどう捉えているかをまとめたものである。国際性に1番大切なもの、2番目に大切なものとして選択されたのは語学力カテゴリーの記述であった。次いでコミュニケーション能力、海外経験などのカテゴリーの記述が続いた。国際性の捉えに性差はあまりなく、学年差は少し見られ、国際・外国語系専攻者には他の専攻系とは異なる特徴がみられた。大学生の自らの国際性の評価は高くないが、国際性は役に立つという回答が圧倒的多数であり、学年が上がるにつれて少しずつ国際性を伸ばすべく努力するという回答が増加する傾向があった。

The word “internationality" is often used especially when people speak about their educational philosophy or youth education. This study is to know how university students interpret the word “internationality", and how do they perceive their own internationality, by using survey data from 792 high-school and university students. According to the survey, as the most important factor in internationality, the foreign language ability (especially English) was indicated, and the second important factor was also the same. And to a much lesser degree, communication ability, oversea experiences, and behavioral characteristics were followed. Students evaluated their own internationality as low. They regarded internationality very useful in the modern world, and there was a tendency that they will try to gain internationality more according their grade proceeding.
