抄録
Fluoride glass containing Thulium radiates ultraviolet light after the absorption of red light through the upconversion mechanism. Upconversion luminescence from Tm-doped-fluoride glass can be used as the light sours for photocatalyst reactions, for which the upconversion luminescence is desired to be as strong as possible. Metal particles can have some effect on enhancement of luminescence from atom and molecules. The upconversion luminescence from Tm^<3+> in fluoride glass and fluorescence from EuCl_3 in solid state were studied on the effect of metal particles on these luminescence properties. On exsistence of metal particles, the fluorescence from EuCl_3 became stronger in intensity, and the upconversion luminescence from Tm^<3+> decreased, which was due to the reflection of the incident light by the metal particles.
