Description

We guess that the Ise Shrine（伊勢神宮） already had the present architectnral form towards the end of the 7th century. If we ascertain when Amaterasu-Ohmikami (天照大神)-worship was established and who is the Goddess，our study of the shrine will be able to trace its origin more easily. Based on the Japanese and Chinese historical materials (日本書紀，古事記，魏志倭人 伝) and the archaeological study, we conclude that the Goddess is Pimiko(卑弥呼)， who was a great queen in ancient Japan，and therefore the worship of the Goddess was formed after the latter half of the 3rd century．
