Description

The author presents in this paper the following five theses. 1. A fairytale will be changed by 12 cultural displacements, when it is diffused into a foreign country. 2. There are 11 obligatory elements in the motif of the classical rakugo The Dead [Shinigami]. 3. The classical rakugo, The Dead, was made by Encho Sanyutei, between 1887 and 1896. Encho taught this rakugo to his follower Enyu Sanyutei. However Enyu changed this rakugo between 1897 and 1906 to Complete Recovery. Therefore Encho taught Kimba Sanyutei the Second his original The Dead. Ensho Sanyutei the Sixth completed the classical rakugo, The Dead, adding his own style of performance and the spell to the rakugo of Kimba Sanyutei the Second. 4. The origin of the spell "Ajarakamokuren ○○○○○ Tekerettsunopaa" is in the spell of Danshi Tatekawa the Fourth. This tradition of the spell was completed by Ensho Sanyutei the Sixth. 5. The wonder of the classical rakugo The Dead and the fairytale The Reaper (KHM44) is composed of the following three elements: 1. the comparison of a candle with human life, 2. the survival of a patient by deceiving the Dead, and 3. even the Dead must obey Providence.
