The purpose of this article is to clarify the position and constructure of " shishin" ( historical mind) in UEHARA Senroku's theory on subject-formation, focussing on the dynamic recognition method developed in " shishinsho" ( selection of historical minds). UEHARA edited " shishinsho" in 1940. This article selection is constructed with thirteen papers on his historical approach ideas. This study analyzed this selection and indicated the following four characteristic points of 1940's " shishin". 1. " Shishin" attaches importance the intention to thorughly criticizing historical materials and thorughly proving historical facts obejectively. 2. " Shishin" investigates to check and to limit the characteristics of the east culture and the west culture relatively, and then investigates common factors of both cultures. 3. "Shishin" investigates to recognaze the universal validity and to bring the absolute stage into relief, through above mentioned proving historical facts obejectively. 4. "Shishin" firstly points out the limits and weekness of things, secondly notices the possbilities of reverse direction of these concerned things, further gropes for the possbilities of the third direction. "Shishin" with above mentioned four characteristic points had been developed in UEHARA's behaviors and thoughts in all his life through. UEHARA proposed a strong dynamic "turn and return" between thoroughly investigating learner' s own situation and thoroughly investigating the reality of the nature, society and history obejectively. UEHARA's schme is that recognition for Japanese subject-formation is made on the base of consent on the existence of something( "etwas" ) that cannot be described by the present academic method and the volition for investigating and vitalizing such something( "etwas" ). The logic of above mentioned dynamic "turn and return" was involved in 1940's " shishin". The intention for pursueing aforesaid " the base" ( denominator in his schme) through investigating "academic reserch recognition" (numerator in his schme) and the intention for reverse direction was involved in "shishinsho". On these context, this study clarified that 1940's "shishin" was the prototype of UEHARA's dynamic recognition method in all his life stage.
