Description

Tendaishu is the most hereditary religious community among believer in Buddhism in Japan. The purpose of this study is to find social welfare activity the present and issue in Tendaishu. Since the Meiji era, in the development process of the formation of social welfare, particularly the role played by the Buddhist religion is big. Most of historic researchers had been a constant evaluation. However, it was about reality, had not researched except in temples of the individual Buddhist or social welfare practitioners. Tendaishu is famous, about social activities and social welfare projects as anti-poverty efforts. Meanwhile, a nationwide survey on Tendai priests of the temple and other social welfare practices were not tackled so far in the present time. This study is the current state of investigate and social awareness of the chief priest of the temple. And this report is interim progress report of the second volume of the survey.
