Abstract

We describe a character frequency analysis of six short volumes manuscripts of “The Tale of Genji”. In the analysis, we calculate cosine similarities between character frequencies of each two manuscripts, and study the characteristics of the similarities with a hierarchical clustering method. The result shows that a cluster consists of manuscripts written in the same period.
