In recent years, deteriorations of thermal and wind environment in the built environment including the urban heat island have been a serious problem. In order to mitigate and solve such problem, the urban environment formed in each regional area should be analyzed from climatology and meteorological viewpoints, and optimal solutions in architectural and urban planning should be found out from their results. In this study, thermal and wind environment in Niigata city and its surrounding area are analyzed by the numerical simulation using the WRF regional meteorological model, and its performance is examined by comparing with observation results. Furthermore, mapping methods of the urban environmental factors obtained by the simulation, which can be used in architectural and urban planning, are investigated.
