Volcanic activity accompanied with Pyroclastic flow has caused serious dameges at the foot of Mt. Unzen-Fugendake, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. There are still a huge amount of debris flow accumulated along the Mizunashi River. As of now, this eruption is lulled. However the debris flow is expected to continue accumlating along this river in future. In this paper, in order to use these immense amount of debris flow deposits, the authors carried out series off unconfined compression tests on specimens treatment with CAS-Hardening and Cement. After the treatment all specimens were submerged in two different kinds of water to be cared. Prior to testing the specimens, pH-values were measured. As a result, the following were obtained ; 1) the relation between the amount of CAS (or Cement) and strength qu, 2) influences of curing-time on strength qu, 3) changes of pH-value du to the use of CAS and Cement, and 4) changes of qu with the change of curing water. From these results, it was concluded that the debris-flow deposits at Mizunashi River can be utilized as materials for fish house and submerged construction.
