Description

The success of the Nihon Hoso Kyokai (NHK) historical drama (Atsuhime) evoked an increase of number of visitors in Kagoshima. A study was conducted to determine the quantitative and qualitative impact of the drama on sightseeing in Kagoshima. Results showed that although the number of visitors increased, only a few participants joined the new sightseeing program "Machi arukt". Therefore there is a need to further access new strategies to attract more participants into the new program, which if are successful, would ultimately boost the economy of Kagoshima.
