Description

This paper aimed to provide a new perspective of autism spectrum disorder by reviewing theories currently advocated from the viewpoint of "connection." Meltzer and Tustin, who developed theories about autism spectrum disorder from a psychoanalytic perspective, use the words "adhesive identification and autistic object" to describe how people with autism spectrum disorder relate external object. In addition, although there was no concept of autism in Jung's era, a similar study of introverts suggested that autism spectrum disorder may have a characteristic of disconnection. To observe these concepts, we conducted a case study using the works of people with autism spectrum disorder. The results indicated a lack of connection between body and mind, uniqueness of the connection of thoughts, difficulty connecting with others, and partial and deep connection to things. In the future, it will be necessary to empirically verify this "connection" perspective.
