抄録

Synopsis Japan has become an aging society, and the amount of disposable underwear used by the elderly with urinary and bowel incontinence has gradually been increasing every year. In particular, at nursing and care homes, how to dispose of disposable underwear in a hygienic and reasonable way has been an issue. In response, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has been implementing a project to develop a disposable underwear disposal system that aims to realise efficient disposal of used disposal underwear. As part of this project, this study aims to propose a disposable underwear disposer installable in a nursing or care home, as well as proposing a dedicated drainage system, comprising a horizontal fixture drain branch, a drainage stack, and a house drain, which is connected to the disposable underwear disposer. The study also evaluates the drainage performance of the drainage system and sets conditions that make the disposer and drainage system applicable to actual facilities. This report describes experiments to evaluate the drainage performance in different types of dedicated horizontal fixture drain branches, when connected to a disposable underwear crushing machine, while changing pipe configuration, pipe diameter and pipe gradient. The report also describes designing of use conditions and a proposal of a performance evaluation method.
