青年期を対象にした親になるための教育のための資料として,本論では,ミネソタ州で開発された中学生を対象とした父親役割を学ぶペアレンティングプログラム「Dads Make a Difference」を紹介・考察する。このプログラムは,高校生(16～20歳)が中学生を教える連携教育であることに特徴づけられ,実践的な内容の4レッスンで構成されており,親や地域との連携をはかるための文書例などを含む,豊富な教材が盛り込まれている。教える側の高校生へのトレーニングのためのカリキュラムにも創意工夫がみられることなど,生涯発達的見地から親になるための教育を進めていくための貴重な示唆を含んでいると考えられる。

Developing of parenting programs for the younger generation is one of most important tasks in Japanese educational systems. In this research, a paternity education program for junior high school students in MN, that is "Dads Make a Difference," was introduced and reviewed. This program is characterized as a cross-age teaching model in which the older teen educators teach the junior high school students. It consisted of 4 activity-based lessons and has various supplemental materials, including the letters to their parents and guardians for the sake of asking for their collaborations. In addition, the curriculum of training teen peer teachers was developed skillfully and the educational effectiveness was demonstrated. This program would provide useful suggestions from the viewpoint of lifelong parenting education.
