Five healthy men were treated as the subjects. An experimental schedule was consisted of 14 days. The 1st 3 days was set for an adjustment period (A period) and the next 3days was set for a control period (C period). During A and C periods, subjects lived as their usual life style without any special exercise activity. The last 8 days was set for an exercise training period (ET period), in which subjects exercised daily with a bicycle ergometer at an intensity of 60% V^^・O2max. Exercise was loaded as 30 minutes exercise three times with a 5-minute-rest. This exercise program was done both in the morning and in the afternoon, so total time of exercise per day was 180 minutes. Protein intake was 146.9 mgN/kg/day throughout the experimental days on average. Energy intake was 43.6 kcal/kg/day at A and C periods and increased to be 68.9 kcal/kg/day at ET period. The highest level of urinary nitrogen excretion (UN) was observed at the 4th day in ET period, and after that UN gradually decreased. UN at the 4th day was significantly higher than those at the 5th, 6th and 8th day of ET period (p<0.05). UN at the 8th day of ET period was significantly lower than that at the 1st day of ET period (p<0.05). Dermal nitrogen loss (DN) during ET period was significantly higher than that in C period. DN at the 1st day of ET period was the highest, but then gradually decreased until at the 4th day of ET period. The sum of UN and DN was higher from the 1st day to the 4th day in ET period compared with that in C period. From the 5th day it gradually decreased. UN in the 1st exercise loading decreased and after that it increased in a subsequent recovery fraction. Although UN remarkably decreased in the fraction at the second exercise loading, UN in a subsequent fraction after 2nd exercise loading increased on the 1st day of ET period and, on the other hand, was kept at the same levels on the 8th day of ET period. lt was lower than that on the 1st day of ET period. Although DN in the fractions with exercise loading both at the 1st day
