This study explores the current state of Sister Cities cooperation activity. In particular, it focuses on the current state of this activity between Russia and Japan. The study examines Russian research results on this matter that previously have been only scarcely presented in Japan. The peak of Sister Cities cooperation activity in Japan took place in the 1980s.
