Description

This paper discusses whether women’s creative activities of Japanese traditional industries are regarded as the case study of the research on “women’s entrepreneurship”. Through the overview of the recent women’s entrepreneurship research, this paper concludes that women’s creative activities of Japanese traditional industries are able to respond to needs requested by the arena of women’s entrepreneurship research. In objectivist approach, it is noted that these activities have a possibility of offering the new factors of women’s entrepreneur’s research. On the other hand, in social constructionist approach, we emphasize that rich social relationship and the variety of creative style of men’s / women’s creators in Japanese traditional industries offer the rich data of how gender order is constructed / reconstructed.
