Description
This paper reviews such technical terms as “weight or the center of the gravity” around business organizations used by different authors so as to clarify the theoretical position of “centers of the gravity of organizations” among them. Firstly, reviewing “organizational weight”(Numagami et al., 2007)and following case studies (Ogi, 2016, 2017), we focus on some verbal evidence specific which seem to exemplify the “centers of the gravity of organizations” : on the one hand, structural inertia reproduces organizational weight in declining firms unintendedly and cyclically ; on the other, some employees anonymous but disobedient have left their workplaces implicitly and individually. Secondly, we compare such terms as “weight or the center of the gravity” theoretically in the light of physical/psychological and external/internal aspect. Thirdly, we point out the theoretical similarity between the “center of gravity” (Clausewitz, 1827 and later)and “willingness to cooperate” or “Chapter 11: The Economy of Incentives” (Barnard,1938).
