Description

Before Covid-19, the number of restaurants offering halal menus was gradually increasing. However, in reality, it is not as widespread as expected, and even in metropolitan areas, there are many restaurants that have stopped roviding halal menus because of Covid-19. The misperception that overseas halal standards, which are originally applied to export products, should be applied to domestic halal services, not to mention high halal certification acquisition fees and high consultant fees, etc. has become an obstacle to the spread of halal services in Japan. At the same time, serious problems have occurred in the field of domestic halal services. Providing a place where people of all ethnicities and religions can get together and eat is extremely important for building a sustainable symbiotic society. In order not to isolate Muslims from Japanese society and prevent Islamophobia and other discrimination problems that occur in Western countries,it is essential to have halal standards which fit the current situation of Japanese society whereby even ordinary restaurants can work on halal without difficulty.
