中国では早くに失われたが、日本にはなお残存する貴重な典籍の一つ『冥報記』は、後世の説話集への影響のみならず、平安時代当時の読み方が残された典籍としても貴重である。我々は古訓点に従った完全な訓読・注釈・索引化を果たす過程で、その電子化・データベース化を行った。資料の性質上、作業は決して容易ではなかった。その理由の一つには漢字の問題もある。また、漢文訓読文という独自の文体の索引を作成するために、「句節」という単位系を導入する必要があった。しかし、この研究成果により、説話文学の研究は、より詳細な比較研究が可能な次元に踏み込んだと言える。

The influence on future generations which it had has very large "account of Meihouki.".And it is precious also as writing to which the reading at the time of the Hirayasu time was left behind. We translated the data and created the database. The work was by no means easy. There is also a problem of a Chinese character in one of the reasons. Moreover, the new view needed to be introduced in order to create the index of the original style of a reading-in-the-Japanese-pronunciation sentence. They are a phrase and a paragraph index. However, it can be said that research of tale literature trod in the dimension in which a more detailed comparative study is possible by this research result.
