日本における人文学におけるデジタル化に関しては、人文科学とコンピュータ研究会を中心に、これまで様々な取り組みが行われてきた。しかしながら、様々な制約により、一連の取り組みを俯瞰するような議論は十分に行われてきたとは言えず、とりわけ、IT 環境の急速な進歩によって議論が陳腐化しやすいという状況はいかんともしがたいものがあった。このような状況は、インターネットのインフラ化をはじめとする一般家庭レベルでの高度な情報インフラの普及に伴って変貌を遂げつつあり、2004年のじんもんこんシンポジウムにおけるパネルディスカッションを一つの契機として俯瞰的な議論が徐々に広まりつつある。ここでは、この俯瞰的な議論を「メタ議論」と呼び、それが人文学におけるデジタル化の将来において重要な意義を持っていることを論じる。
Regarding the digitization of the humanities in Japan, the SIG, Computers and the Humanities has played a prominent role since its establishment. However, due to various limitations, overview of such attempts has not been discussed, especially due to the rapidity of the ongoing technical progress in the field of IT, which has a tendency to so quickly render such discussions obsolete. This situation is drastically being changed due to the dissemination of advanced IT environments into the PCs of ordinary consumers. A general discussion was gradually initiated by a panel at Jin-mon-con 2004. In this paper, we label this kind of discussion was "meta-discussion" and assert that it is very significant in the future of digitization of the Humanities in Japan.
