It is empirically believed in the education of deaf-mutes student that communication capability by means of writing will improve in line with hearing impaired students' improvements in their capability to read and write Japanese. This in turn has lead educators to put less emphasis on practical communication by means of writing. However, it is essential not only to learn Japanese structurally, but to acquire the ability to practically utilize this knowledge in order to enhance the capability to communicate by means of writing.\nMoreover. considering the current situation in which special education has shifted to special needs education and the fact that the significance of education at schools for hearing impairment is being in questioned. schools for hearing impaired are required to care for children with hearing impairment from pre-school to post school education. There are several skills required to ensure hearing impaired children integrate into society after graduation. This study focuses on one necessary skill, communication by writing. and suggests a practical educational method to enhance communication by writing.
