Description

The aims of this investigation were to prove the presence of sclerosis of the ovarian arteries, to find any difference in features between portions of the sexual organs. Material for histological studies were collected from 14 goats in Okinawa. The results obtained are summarized as follows. 1. Sclerotic changes observed in the ovarian arteries were hyperplastic swelling of the tunica intima, breaking and splitting of the lamina elastica interna. 2. According to the degree of sclerotic changes, the arteries were classified into 3 or 4 groups. 3. The sclerotic changes were seen slight in the ovarian arteries which is closely and directly related to oestrus. 4. The changes of the ovarian and the uterine arteries did not correlate to each other, but occurred independently.
