抄録

In Japanese rural communities, for activation of agriculture and rural communities, the tourist farm and ranch have been introduced recently. Okinawa has a common siuation, as all Japan has. That is, the number of farm population has been decreasing and the number of old persons engaged in agricluture has been increasing, year by year. In this study, the existing advanced tourist farm (Itayanagi-machi Furusato Center) and ranch (Nakatukawa City tourist ranch) were investigated for case study. The common features of developing the tourist farm and ranch in the advanced areas are : (1) The existing advanced tourist farm and ranch are generally owned and operated directly or indirectly by the minicipalities. (2) The municipalities take a leading part in it and all part of the area participated in it. (3) The entire region is included in the developing plan. (4) Promoting the spread of the new agricultural know-how, processing, and selling of agricultural products, the tourist farm and ranch are attributed to the activation of the local agriculture and communities. Introducing the tourist farm and ranch in Okinawa, the above common features of developing the tourist farm and ranch in the advanced areas are suggestive.
