説明
Since Yukio Mishima's rise to fame, his novels have frequently been criticized for being out of touch with the times and lacking a sense of reality. Literary critics often refer to this quality as "anachronism." This paper argues that the phenomenon of anachronism, or untimeliness, in Mishima's writing is attributable to the author himself, as well as to the internal time confusion of the text, a phenomenon called "post-festum," coined by the psychopathologist Bin Kimura. This paper examines Yukio Mishima's early short stories, namely "Sorrel Flowers-Akihiko's Memory of the Early Childhood (1938)," "Colored Picture Glass (1940)," "The Forest in Full Bloom (1941)," and "Cigarette (1946)." Further, this paper explores the formation process of "post-festum" or "untimely" consciousness in these early works of Mishima.
