The religious dances (kagura) in the western part of Hiroshima prefecture are well known. It has been believed that all of them came from the outside of Hiroshima prefecture after the Meiji era and there were no kagura in Hiroshima prefecture in Edo era. In this article,first,the author has reported about the kagura in the western part of Hiroshima prefecture,then has reported about the kagura in Edo era in the upper reaches of the Oota River. He also has reported the kagura in Edo era in the western part of Hiroshima prefecture. He explained that the kagura in Edo era in the western part of Hiroshima prefecture was composed of three different events as well as the kagura in the eastern part of Yamaguchi prefecture. He concluded that the main event of the kagura in Edo era in the western part of Hiroshima prefecture was the event that had to do with snakes.
