Abstract

In this study, 20 cases of MaaS implemented in rural cities from 2018 to 2021 were organized and their implementation status and effectiveness were summarised. In addition, existing cases in which various MaaS functions were combined and implemented were analyzed to clarify the effectiveness of the MaaS functions. The results showed that the introduction of MaaS increased the use of public transport by approximately 30% among the participants in the experiment and that the combination of the multiple route retrieval function, the reservation and dispatch function, the information integration function, the subscription function, and shared-ride on-demand transport were considered to be factors, while the introduction of the payment function and fixed-rate buses did not lead to an increase in use. It was also found that car use was reduced by approximately 20% and that car rental did not lead to a decrease in car use. Finally, the intention to use MaaS in the future was about 80%, and the frequency of outings of the experiment participants increased by about 50%, indicating that shared-ride on-demand transport has a positive impact on both indices.
