Abstract

The "Electronic Commerce Law of the People's Republic of China" was adopted at the 5th Session of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress and went into effect on January 1, 2019. The Law constitutes a legal framework to protect the legitimate rights and interests of e-commerce platform operators, platform-using consumers, and e-commerce businesses, maintain fair competitive order in the marketz, and promote the healthy development of e-commerce. This paper examines the content of this law in terms of its aspects as competition policy, coordination policy, promotion policy, and protection of consumers' rights and interests and intellectual property rights and examines its basic features.
