  • A Scoping Review on Preparation for the Occupational Therapist National Examination

抄録

A literature review was conducted for studies that examined preparation for the national examination for occupational therapists and physical therapists, and 34 articles were extracted, few of which were original articles. The review showed that self-marking after taking the national examination was highly associated with 12 subjects in occupational therapy, whereas no specific subject was related to self-marking in physical therapy. It is important for students and teachers to share their goals when providing group and individualized learning as a way of preparation for the national examination. Students had positive attitudes toward group learning; however, some students with low grades stumbled on group learning, requiring support from teachers. Many poorly-performing students took longer time to improve self-assessment and self-competence and had low motivation. Self-marking after taking the national examination is positively correlated with grade point average in many cases, indicating that repeated learning would improve academic ability. Thus, individualized teaching is required immediately after a decline in grades, and academic ability improvement in basic subjects is particularly needed. When providing group and individualized learning, a close relationship between teachers and students is important to improve the national examination pass rate. Further research on effective preparation for the national examination is required.
