Abstract

In junior high school health and physical education, mat exercise is one of the areas in which students are easily divided into those who are good at it and those who are bad at it. There are several factors that cause students to feel that they are not good at mat exercise, such as "it is difficult," "I am afraid," and "I don't want others to see my mistakes. In this study, with the aim of developing a class that motivates students to learn mat exercise, we conducted a class in which students taught each other techniques while recognizing each other's weaknesses and strengths, and through trial and error, they worked as a team to create a performance incorporating mat exercise techniques, which tends to be an individual activity. The results showed that the students' sense of motor competence was improved. As a result, a sense of motor competence was improved, and students' positive reflections on mat exercise increased after the study.
