Abstract

The Certified Public Psychologist Act was enacted on 9 September 2015 and enforced on 15 September 2017. The year 2022 is the fifth year since the Certified Public Psychologist Act has become effective, and to review this system by examining the enforcement status based on Article 5 of the Supplementary Provisions of the Certified Public Psychologist Act, surveys on current activities of certified public psychologists and interviews of their cooperation with relevant parties were conducted. Furthermore, surveys on training programs by several organizations was also conducted. The Open University of Japan has been establishing a curriculum for certified public psychologists at the undergraduate level from the first semester of 2019. The curriculum for certified public psychologists includes subjects for “Seminar in Psychology” and “Practical Training in Psychology”, however this university started offering these subjects from 2022. Therefore, this research focuses and introduces the issues and suggestions that were clarified through interviews and surveys towards the review of the fifth year of the Certified Public Psychologist Act, particularly those related to“Practical Training in Psychology”. Moreover, the purpose of this study is to examine the current state of “Seminar in Psychology” and “Practical Training in Psychology” and to try extracting a perspective for the future class planning, that was implemented by examining “Seminar in Psychology” and “Practical Training in Psychological”based on the authorʼs feelings and impressions from the contents of studentsʼ statements, reports, and from conducting classes.
