Description
I discuss the introduction of fidelity measurement to parent training (PT) and its expected benefits related to the parenting of children with disabilities and the prevention of child abuse in Japan. Fidelity measurement contributes to quality control in the implementation of programs. Previous studies have reported that high fidelity is associated with high program effectiveness. In the field of mental health, several studies have evaluated program fidelity, however, no studies have evaluated the fidelity of parent training in Japan. The "basic platform," designed by researchers to evaluate the structural fidelity of PT, could potentially be used; however, further research is needed to develop fidelity measurements for processes, such as evaluating the competence of facilitators.
