Abstract

We conducted text mining to analyze the challenges in the training of childcare workers in the field of severe motor and intellectual disabilities. The subjects were childcare workers from the National Hospital Organization, and interviews were conducted based on predetermined interview items. Frequent vocabulary was extracted using KHcoder, and a co-occurrence network analysis was conducted. As a result, for categories like " Occurrences that make me feel my personal growth," for " Ability to express opinions to other professionals and parents and guardians," "Individual support plans," "therapeutic education and daytime activities." and " Occurrences that make me feel my personal growth as a childcare worker," for "the ability to explain childcare," "support by instructors," "understanding and responding to individual needs" and “how to consider the expertise of childcare workers in the area of severe motor and intellectual disabilities,” for “dealing with patients of different ages with various disabilities,” “understanding individual needs,” and “group training and study,” a collection of words related to above categories was observed. It is believed that the challenge in training childcare workers lies in strengthening a system where instructors support them to be able to articulate and clearly express their opinions on their childcare approach through daily practice of providing direct support to users.
