The purpose of the present study was to investigatethe literature search methods used for systematic reviews,focusing on search tools and resources.1,014 studies published in 2014 on PubMed and 101 studiespublished in 2014 on Ichushi-web were selected for analysis.All search tools and resources were analyzed, includingdatabases used in the literature searches performed.Of the 1,014 studies analyzed, 3-most frequently useddatabases were MEDLINE/PubMed(31.5%), EMBASE(18.2%),and Cochrane(13.7%) in PubMed. and of the 101 studiesanalyzed, 4-most frequently used databases were MEDLINE/PubMed(37.9%), Ichushi-web(11.0%), Cochrane(10.3%), andEMBASE(9.7%) in Ichushi-web.Searching additional databases beyond MEDLINE/PubMedleads to necessary studies.And further, searching non-database sources (includingsubmissions from manufacturers, recent meeting Others,contact with experts and checking reference lists) does appearto be a productive way of identifying further studies.(著者抄録)
