This paper considers the following questions: 1) in what way the verbal art of poetry can become a medium of cultural critique to reconsider our dominant way of expressing ourselves in languages. (The first and second sections of the paper recount and highlight two examples, both academic and non-academic, of cultural criticism.) / 2) in which way the autobiographical account of the poet Langston Hughes through his Big Sea may lead to our understanding of his first collection of poetry The Weary Blues. / 3) why his second collection of poetry Fine Clothes to the Jew can become a powerful evidence of "blues poetry" and how. These questions form the thesis outline and suggest broader implications.
