抄録

This paper aims to difine the boundaries of Miyazaki dialects based on field work done by Miyazaki Dialect Club (of Miyazaki International College) members and the author from 1995 to 1998. The data shows several dialect boundaries defined by various phonetic and grammatical features. In particular, a mora dialect and a syllable dialect boundary is observed between Nishimorokata district and Miyazaki prefecture. In almost the same area, another boundary shows the distributions of the Hyuga and Satsuma dialects. The primary sources for this analysis are Miyazaki Dialectal Maps and Nobeoka-Kagoshima Glottograms.
