In the case of measuring 'Q' of the coil in which the hydrous granular medium is inserted, the water content in it correlates with the value of 'Q'. The condition that the value of 'Q' changes at the constant water content, is decided by reactance and diameter of the measuring coil. So experiments are performed under the condition of applying the frequency ranging from 500 KC to 5.0 MC, by using the measuring coils of different inductance which have the same diameter. Two equivalent circuits represent the measuring coil in which the hydrous medium is loaded : the inductive phenomenon is mainly considered for one equivalent circuit when the medium contains more water , and the dielectric phenomenon chiefly for the other in the case of less water content. Thus, results of experiments are as follows : (1) The coil of small inductance has higher value of ⊿Q than that of large inductance at the constant frequency. (2) In the case of the same coil, the higher frequency is, the more ⊿Q grows. On the other hand, the value of measurement fluctuates at the high frequency. It is accordingly important for the improvement of measurement that the suitable frequency to the measuring coil is selected. (3) When W indicates water content, at the water content ranging from 5% to 25%, d(⊿Q)/dW is almost constant and though ⊿Q-W curve has the same direction of inclination as Rx-W curve informed on the report (I), the former is sharper than the latter; i.e., we expect better results by this experiment than by experiment informed on the report (I). Being independent of the granule-diameter and inductance of coil, 'Q' holds the minimum value at 29% or 30% in water content, and the results of measurement have a tendency to fluctuate in the vicinity of this value, because resonance becomes dull in this range. (4) The ⊿Q-W curve made a reseach for the granular medium of the large diameter is sharper than that of small diameter at the water content ranging from 25% to 10%, on the contrary, below 105& in water content d(⊿Q)/dW decreases as compared with that of smaller diameter. And the finer the granule is, the smaller the fluctuation of measurement becomes.
