Abstract
This paper intend to clarify the transformation of Social Security Systems in Japan, and some social security systems of tradesmen and craftsmen in the middle ages were discussed in this number. In the middle ages, commerce and industries were developed under the background of the progress of agriculture, and they, subordinate to nobles, temples and shrines till then, became independent gradually. The persons of each profession united and organized Za". We can find some social security systems in these Za", and these Za" had some chacteristic of communities. We can find some characteristic of communities in the Family", too. And we may be able to say that Family" is, in one sense, the most fundamental communites. We can say that some social security systems were input in the family, and the most Za" were declined in the end of the middle ages, but the Family" did not.
