Abstract

type:P(論文)

This study has aimed at pointing out the career senses of Japanese repatriates' wives by means of their work experiences as a clue. Career senses mean the views for one's own long-term work life, here. Two steps for research on wives were taken; one was a questionnaire survey collected 152 answers by mail in 2001, and the other was a follow-up hearing on 55 wives individually in 2002 who had accepted ones through the questionnaires. The average age of the 55 wives was 45.1 years old, and 31 out of them have been at work. With a study on their career steps taken to the present works, three groups were acknowledged: "first-work", "return-to-work", and "working-without-interruption". 26 out of the 31 working wives belonged to the return-to-work group, and then the group was divided into 5 sub-groups based on the reason why they quit the first jobs. Some of the marriage-retirement sub-group didn't seem to have made decisions to quit as they wished. The presence of "first-work" group has suggested that they had been stimulated by strong desire for work for a long time. The cases of the wives "working-without-inter-ruption" have proven that they can keep working only if they work out a good way for working with acquired specialties.
