We have developed a new non-contact manipulation technique using a paramagnetic property of triplet -state electrons generated in a phosphorescent material. In the experiment, we used anthracene which is a typi cal phosphorescent material in which electrons can be activated by a UV light. Our observations indicated that the anthracene particles floating on the water surface moved toward a stronger magnetic field . This is the first demonstration of non -contact manipulation of the objects by the light and magnetic field.
