This study aims to clarify the aspects of housing construction and residential planning by the Housing Corporation in Kanagawa Prefecture,and in particular Yokosuka City during the wartime period.There were about10,000houses built by the Housing Corporation in Kanagawa Prefecture at the time of1943. Kawasaki City and Yokohama City had the highest demand for housing,which comprised70percent of the total demand in the prefecture. The constraints and conditions of residential planning faced by the Housing Corporation for Yokosuka City are analyzed by examining documents from their land readjustment projects. This analysis reveals that irregular terrain and a smaller land area than other parts of the Kanto region made it challenging for the Housing Corporation to find suitable land for residential development in Yokosuka City.
