本論文は，計算機アーキテクチャ教育用のビジュアルシミュレータVisuSim への組み込みメイル機能の開発とその効果について述べる．VisuSim は，Java で記述された計算機シミュレータであり，アセンブリ言語プログラムのシミュレーション機能，ノイマン型計算機の内部構造や動作の可視化機能，学習支援機能および組み込みメイル機能（VisuSim メイル）を有する．VisuSim メイルは，学習者が指導者に質問とともに自身のVisuSim における任意の実行中間状態を送信することを可能にする．指導者は，VisuSim メイルを使用することで，無関係なメイルに煩わされることなく，学習者からの質問に対して，自身のVisuSim 上に学習者のVisuSim の実行中間状態を再現して，質問に答えることができる．学習環境に適切な情報伝達手段を統合することで，指導者と学習者は学習状況の具体的な情報を共有でき，質問の意図を的確に理解し，適切なアドバイスが可能となる．VisuSimおよびVisuSim メイルを実際の「計算機アーキテクチャ」の授業で利用した結果，VisuSim メイルを利用した場合としなかった場合で成績に有意差が認められた．

This paper presents development and effect of a built-in e-mail function in a visual simulator (VisuSim) for computer architecture education. VisuSim written in Java has a function of simulating an assembly language program, a function of visually showing internal states and execution of a von Neumann type computer, yet another function of on-line help and the built-in e-mail function named VisuSim Mail. VisuSim Mail enables a learner to attach a snapshot of VisuSim’s execution to his/her question and send it to a teacher. The teacher can answer the question after restoring the VisuSim’s snapshot sent from the learner without being annoyed by other irrelevant e-mails. By combining the appropriate communication medium to the learning system, the learner and the teacher are able to share the concrete information on the learner’s state and the teacher can advise the learner with appropriate suggestions after understanding the exact intention of the question. We employed VisuSim Mail with VisuSim for a real Computer Architecture course and confirmed significant difference between the scores by those who utilized VisuSim Mail and the scores by others.
