本研究では、シダ植物を教材として扱うときに必要な基礎データをさらに集めるために、5種類の身近なシダ植物について、胞子の観察や前葉体の培養、生活環の観察、また維管束の観察を行い、その資料を作成した。

A new learning unit of non-seed plants of pteridophytes was added to the science learning in lower secondary school, because of the revision of the course of study in 2008. Therefore we developed teaching materials of pteridophytes, Thelypteris acuminata, Athyrium niponicum, a field horsetail Equisetum arvense, a Japanese climbing ferm Lygodium japonicum and Pteris dispar which are often observed in Kumamoto prefecture. Photographs under microscope of those sporangia, spores and prothallus that were cultured for one year were taken as teaching materials for the learning of the non-seed plants. Those prothlllus were formed in simple liquid fertilizer within one month after seeding the spores. Photos of vascular bundles of the pteridophytes were also taken through roots, stems and leaves.
