The Centre of Research and Development for Cooperative Education at Kyoto Sangyo University (KSU) has gathered the data of all 5473 students who graduated in 2008 and 2009, through which we can trace how well he/she performed academically, whether he/she took career-oriented education programme, and how he/she managed the job hunting. This paper is an attempt to verify the causal relationships among these factors by using a statistical analysis on the KSU students’ data and thus to suggest to academics and practitioners concerned one way to assess the career-oriented education programme. Based on this huge and detailed set of data on individual students, we performed a regression analysis to test following three hypotheses; Hypothesis 1: “Career-oriented education helps to obtain a good job,” Hypothesis 2: “Career-oriented education raises academic performance,” and Hypothesis 3: “Good students do well at university, anyway.” Our data showed a set of statistical results in favour of all of the three hypotheses.
