平成六年以降の研究は、『こゝろ』論争の余波を受けた論が多い。遺書の公表、静の他者性、現在の「私」、などの問題を巡って考察されている論が中心となっている。文化的、風俗的、精神史的な背景を『こゝろ』の背後に詳しくさぐることで、作品の読み変えが可能であろう。

Many of the Studies on "Kokoro" after 1994 have been more or less influenced by the "Kokoro" disputes. Most of them center around such problems as the disclosure of The Will, the alienation between Shizu and her husband and the identity of the narrator in the first person. I believe "Kokoro" can be interpreted in another way by looking minutely into the aspects of the cultural manners, the customs and the spirit of the era the novel was written in.
