日本語母語話者が発話した場合の，英語の文中の位置における語の持続時間について検討した。 英語母語話者の場合には，文末にある語の持続時聞は，文頭や他の位置にある同じ語の持続時間より は長くなるが，日本語母語話者の場合には，短くなる傾向がみられた。

In this paper，the duration of the same words in different positions in English sentences uttered by three native speakers of Japanese was investigated. In the case of native spea­ kers of English，the duration of the words which have a nucleus at the end of the sentence becomes longer than the duration of the same words in other parts of the sentence. But whenthe native speakers of Japanese read the sentences，the duration of the words whichhave a nucleus at the end of the sentence tended to be shorter than the duration of the same word in other parts of the sentence.
