Emulsion of oil in water is obtained by adding liquid paraffin to the urine diluted with physiologic saline solution, before the test tubus are strongly shaken. The subjects are 71 healthy kindergarten children aged from 4 to 5. The results are outlined as follows: 1)The average value of the multiple of critical emulsion forming dilution, D, is 14.1 (12.2≦m≦15.9,α=0.05) in case of 71 subjects. 5 samples in which urinary proteinis detected by Shino-test are excluded, the mean value of D is 12.5 (11.2≦m≦13.8,α=0.05). 2)The critical emulsion concentration, C(1/D)of boy is higher than that of the girl. The difference is significant. 3)The average value of urinary specific gravity is 1.027. The relation between specific gravity and the logalism of C is linear. 4)The D of kindergarten children is smaller than that of the high school boys and the old men and women, but it is larger than that of the young men and women, which are shown in the previous reports. When D is smaller than 32, urinary protein cannot be detected by an ordinary method;sulfosalicylic acid test, for example. But even then emulsion phenomena at the interfaseof the urine and liquid paraffin are observed, which means that the detection of protein by an emulsion method may be possible.
